The Procedures, Standards and Guidelines Working Group at the University of Toronto (U of T) is an advisory body under the Information Security Council (ISC) that develops and recommends security standards, procedures and guidelines to ensure consistent and robust information security practices across the institution. It engages stakeholders from all campuses, monitors industry trends and reports to the ISC and Chief Information Security Officer, meeting monthly to align university-wide security governance with best practices.

The Procedure, Standards and Guidelines Working Group is an advisory committee working on behalf of the ISC to develop, document and recommend the adoption of standards, procedures and guidelines to be used at the U of T.

1. Develop, document and seek approval for data classifications and definitions.
2. Develop, document and seek approval for standards and controls definitions.
3. Recommend governance process for managing standards and controls going forward.
4. Develop, document and seek approval for guidelines.
5. Monitor and consider industry and higher education sector trends when comes to new standards and practices that may need to be considered by U of T.

• The working group comprises members from across the University with broad division and tri-campus representation.
• Where appropriate, the working group will seek input from key stakeholders, subject matter experts and other interested parties from divisional and central units.
• The working will report findings and recommendations to the ISC and the Chief Information Security Officer as and when they are developed.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month from 2 to 3 p.m.
